"A loser doesn't know what he'll do if he loses, but talks about what he'll do if he wins, and a winner doesn't talk about what he'll do if he wins, but knows what he'll do if he loses" ~Eric Berne |
|
Somebody said to me this morning, "You are how old? Why aren't you married? Stop the single guy thing; ya-know. What? You think'n you are going to miss-out on something better the second you get married? Come on Will, get domestic already." My Reply to that was "I see you finished reading the book I gave you: Eric Berne's 'Games People Play'. Nice try Sue, but I'm still not going to buy you those shoes you saw online last night on my computer."
A few days ago I heard somebody say. "If pool is the only thing I'm sucking at right now, then my life is doing a-ok." I couldn't tell if that was positive thinking after she got her ass kicked, or negative thinking after the frustration-of-losing a set. Or is that the other way around? I wonder if she said that cause she thought she lost to someone she can beat or should beat? Either way its a step forward I guess.
I cant hold grudges like I used to. That shit is like a sore on the soul. Not that I'm saying I want to be grudging but I do have a concern about being taken for granted and advantage of when my dukes are down. But for sure, the fact that I have slowed down with the booze have cleared some things up with me; and people. I know pride when I see it in others. Pride can sometimes be detrimental to the soul and objectives.
The holidays are coming up and I'm feeling funky inside again. Maybe Susan was right, maybe I should buy her a pair of shoes... |

About
few mornings ago.... Saturday |
|
|
I avoid the rush hours. I don't
wait for people, cause I don't make-em wait
for me; and plus I don't like waiting..
The mornings are okay, provided I'm still
not drunk from 6 hours before.
I'd rather
be sleeping on a Saturday morning. I
remember Jim. I thought he was a buffoon
when I was younger but now I get him.
I'd
rather be alone than be around a company
of people or persons I am not too crazy about. And yes, being
alone is better than being with someone
or ones you'd rather not be around, have
around or is around.
Come
on baby light my fire. Wine and Rum makes
everything fun. Get Risky with Whiskey
and everyone's frisky. In the morning
I hope the night before feels like yesterday
so far away that today is safe for me
to walk this way. After awhile you realize
some people just don't deserve you.
Lately I have been tinkering with aromas;
Cinnamon Tea with milk and honey. Every
morning I'm madly in love with someone-I'd-rather-not-say
who it is. But in that same morning somewhere
between brushing my teeth and jumping on
the shuttle on 42nd I lose interest, I
lose the love, the muse. |

About
Sunday-Fall... Barely |
|
|
|
"A serious
writer is not to be confounded with a solemn
writer. A serious writer may be a hawk
or a buzzard or even a popinjay, but a
solemn writer" is always a bloody owl"
~Ernest Hemingway |
Sunday
is for laundry. Sunday is for the game.
Sunday is for church. Sunday is for your
mom and dad. Sunday is for getting over
your Saturday night binge-drinking. Sunday
is for giving that hot stranger next to
you cab fare home. Sunday is for sleeping
in late. Sunday is for just simply staying
home; or... |
...just-sometimes.
Sunday is for a walk in the park on a
fall afternoon... |
